Formerly a Hindu, Shah Kirit Kakulal Govindji converted to Islam in 1996. In 1999, he travelled to Mumbai, India to participate in the intensive comparative religion course "International Da'wah Training Program" organized by the President of the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), the world famous da’ee Dr. Zakir Naik.
Ever since then, he has been a active Daee speaking for Islam on various topics at ‘Inter-Religious Dialogues’ organized by many organizations and universities like Multimedia University Malacca, University of Malaya, Yayasan UEM, International Islamic University Malaysia, Multimedia University Cyberjaya, International Medical University, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Pejabat Mufti Negeri Melaka, Pure Life Society, St Francis Xavier Church and Holy Rosary Church.
He is also the Chief Da'wah officer at Yayasan IIS (Islamic Information & Services Foundation) where he conducts the popular “Friendly Comparative Religion” (FCR) course almost every month with hundreds of Dawah Volunteers from all over Malaysia. In more recent times, he has also authored, ‘Ask Brother Shah’ published by Saba Islamic Media addressing common questions non-Muslims have about Islam.
